United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
Mission:
"The Museum's primary mission is to advance and disseminate knowledge about this unprecedented tragedy; to preserve the memory of those who suffered; and to encourage its visitors to reflect upon the moral and spiritual questions raised by the events of the Holocaust as well as their own responsibilities as citizens of a democracy."
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum uses education of the Holocaust as a tool to install a sense of moral responsibility to act in order to respond to challenges that are still prevalent in our world such as hatred, genocide and antisemitism. The museum uses special exhibitions in order to promote these views, including "Remember the Children: Daniel's Story" and "From Memory to Action: Meeting the Challenges of Genocide."
Remember the Children: Daniel's Story is a nonfictional story of a young boy's life in Nazi Germany during the Holocaust, which is aimed at children visitors. The exhibition uses photo albums, documents and primarily Daniel's diary entries in order to convey his story as accurately as possible. Children psychiatrists, educators and museum experts have reportedly reviewed the exhibition.
